Compare finished formulas, not ingredient names
Cassava starch can contribute binding performance, while tofu-based fibers provide absorption and a familiar plant-litter format. But product performance depends on particle size, binder system, moisture, density and manufacturing control. Two bags labeled 'cassava' can behave very differently, so ingredient category alone cannot predict clump strength.
Test the moments that matter
Use the same liquid dose and litter depth, then lift clumps after short and extended intervals. Record breakage, residue on the tray, litter consumed per clump, dust during pouring and tracking after use. Repeat the test after humid storage because tropical distribution can change plant-based products. Include cat acceptance; a technically strong litter has little value if texture or scent discourages the animal.
Understand the practical tradeoffs
Plant tofu litter offers lightweight handling and a straightforward renewable-material story. A tofu-cassava blend can add a tighter-clumping proposition when supported by test results. Either format needs moisture-resistant packaging and honest disposal directions. Do not publish a universal 'best ratio' unless the ratio is defined and validated for the exact formula.
